Location test happening now. And it's got a bunch of Beatmania crossovers. Like smoooch. And FIRE FIRE.

FIRE FIRE.

People are still interested in DDRAC?

I haven't played pad DDR for like 8 months.  Though if I ever did want to play AC, I'd just break out my CF and save myself the dollar.

I am only interested in the beatmania crossovers. I don't care for the rest, when X2 is released I'm probably just going to spam smooooch and Dazzlin' Darlin and maybe FIRE FIRE

FIRE FIRE is a 14, Dazzlin' Darlin and smooooch are 12's. The speed mods can now be changed within the song. There's also a sudden death mod, "RISKY".
Secret Final Stage Song: Possession / TAG
It's an 18 on Heavy. FOR A FINAL STAGE SONG.

Hello DDRDX and increased difficulty. This is becoming the best AC release...ever.

... Isn't changing speed mods in the song rather beatmania inspired?  Only use I can practically think about for it is that it is the "OH SHI-" button.  Unless you want to play stumble dance or employ a friend.

So, are they going to release this in AMERICA?

After the X garbage, I'm guessing "no" on a US release. One never knows, though.

As for being interested in arcade DDR... yeah. I still played on the local Supernova cab until it vanished a couple of weeks ago, and had been trying to convince them to upgrade to SN2. Arcade wasn't having it, though.

Now we're stuck with an ITG2 dedicab. Yippie.

Yea, can't honestly say I've seen many DDR cabinets above extreme...  though I've seen bootleg games (e.g. megamix) a few times.

SuperNOVA seems rare as hell, I've seen maybe... one machine ever?  Then again IIDX is rare as hell also here...

I dunno why, I've lost motivation for arcade DDR a while ago... Maybe its because I bought mats to play at home...

It's a variant of what Universe 3 and Hottest Party 3 look like. Neither is the same as one another, or this. "Vol.1" for Xbox 360 also looks similar.

My guess is this is the interface we'll see when this round's 360/PS3 version ("Vol.1") finally launches in the US...

IN THE NAME OF THE MOON AND/OR STEPPING ON SQUARES

RISE
FROM
YOUR
GRAAAAAAAAAAAAVE

Anyway, the game was released today. An international release has been confirmed. Thanks to the power of laziness, info here (pre-release info), here (current song list), and here (the Zenius-I-Vanisher thread). Songs in the first link but not the second, like 冥, GOLD RUSH and POSSESION, are unlockables that haven't been unlocked yet. REPLICANT D-ACTION is a beatmaniaIIDX-esque special menu ES system.

Plus, a video of one of the weirder additions:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDcePWVZEGQ

Also, what is with Ryu☆ and Sakura? First there was sakura storm in DDR Universe 3, then Sakura Reflection in REFLEC BEAT, and now Sakura Sunrise here.

Also, the Encore Extra Stage is up. Oh my god, this. This is just....Well, it's just freaking awesome. The intro, the name and the atmosphere are just.....
Well, see for it yourself. There's a part of Anti-Matter EXPERT, and the first 15 seconds of EES.

So in general, the steps for the new songs in this... don't look bad? I haven't really been keeping up, but the general impressions on ZIV seem to be leaning that way.

I like how the game gives you zero time to wait when you achieve OMES. Sure, you get the results screen, but you've opened the gate and you're going to play this bitch whether you like it or not.

What a confusing translation (although I skipped the "ship" part of it too). And hey, more stuff I've done before! It's like they're wondering which Bemani songs are good for DDR and decide that ktern chap has all the answers.

If they'd just learn to make better steps, too...

I can't believe it's not ...

And I wouldn't really call it "low standards." There's definitely a lot of junk out there that I won't play, there just happen to be a number of "bad" charts that I enjoy for one reason or another. If I really like a song, even if the steps are bunk, I'm probably going to keep playing it.

Especially if the song annoys the arcade attendants. Yeeeeeah.

Shock Arrows are still in, to the best of my knowledge.
bag and Second Heaven Challenge unlocks confirmed: bag is the unfixed-triplet Heavy, Second Heaven is the loctest Heavy. (8/25 EDIT: It's actually a version of the loctest Heavy with better step placement.)

Longer video of Valkyrie dimension:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHEoQO0SLPc
How does X2 keep trumping itself?

Also, people are theorizing that Spriggan is a DJ Yoshitaka alias, given that:
a) Valkyrie dimension is 185 BPM, and
b) It has the Unicorn Tail drums and the signature Yoshitaka crash.

The composition doesn't sound like anything Yoshitaka's done before, but maybe that's what he needs to get people off his back about his stuff all being the same.

I wanna some streams!! :D And yes, the whole DDR, keeps getting better.

It's probably either Yoshitaka or Kobo (why you ask? Song sounds just like his style) but it doesn't sound Yoshitaka, that's for sure.

Yeah I want to play this, ddr is still fun imo but these charts are actually seeming good. I'm glad koonami seem to be phasing out boss songs that are only tough thanks to 400bpm death runs

Because Trigger was not fun at all, ok it was but I mean the chart was way to sloppy Valkyrie dimension looks great though. Wonder what the oni chart is like  :O

Even if some of the rhythms are questionable, they seem to have a much better sense of what patterns work, at least. The quality looks comparable to that of MAX1, which isn't too shabby.

MAX, other than dropping the rating system in favor of groovdar, was a nice change.  I still like living in the glory days of DDR (4th - 5th mix, when the music was all disco all the time), but the music developed nicely in MAX.  I agree that the music in X2 seems like it is going the direction of IIDX in terms of new music (and licenses) that people will like a lot.

XXAC -> IIDX?

Yeah one thing I noticed about a lot of the X-Specials were the overuse of a bunch of sloppy patterns which required either a lot of retarded spins or a bunch of annoying double stepping, from a few of the previews in x2 it seems like they are getting a lot more creative but then again I haven't played any of the sims sooo I guess I can't judge yet.

I'm still excited though, the fact that they are making the music choice a bit more like 2dx is a much better choice because it was starting to seem like the only good songs were the retarded boss songs. Seems more evened out to more interesting 8's and 9's than SN and X. But again it may just seem that way from the previews.

Well, without the 16th notes, a lot of the patterns get very weird, but the whole chart is better without any CUT's.

Also, the song got even more epic, Yoshitaka did probably the best sounding EES at all time. The end is just WOW. We need full version.

Possession looks great, Anti-Matter looks like some ITG absurdity, though. Especially if you know what the song actually sounds like.

I was talking about inappropriate overstepping relative to the song itself.

Is 888's chart the same as in Universe 3? That one was pretty stupid, too.

DeltaMAX was unchanged from Universe 3, so I doubt 888 is altered wither.

What I don't understand is how it's only an 18.

Incidentally, I was kind of confused about why 888 never actually goes to 888 BPM (in its chart, at least... we all know 444 is the same thing). I mean, if I was stepping it, I'd go easier on the chart but make sure it actually hit the advertised speed...

Ah well, stuff like that goes for a lot of songs :sawesome:

888bpm chart would have been crazy, then again my eyes are getting so bad it's hard to even read 300bpm stuff. It would be fun to try and play, maybe a bit Necropotencey  :D

IR 1 is over, so new courses. But the songs revealed within the courses are the real highlights, of course.

aftershock!! / DM Ashura [?/?/9/13/?] [?/9/13/?]
Dummy / RAM [2/4/6/10/-] [4/7/11/-]
Leaving… / SEIYA MURAI meets"eimy" [?/?/7/11/?] [?/8/11/?]
sakura storm / Ryu☆ [?/?/7/10/?] [?/7/11/?]
VANESSA / 朱雀 [?/?/10/16/?] [?/11/16/?]
ZETA~素数の世界と超越者~ / Zektbach [?/?/11/15/?] [?/9/14/?]

VANESSA? ZETA? seiya-murai? RAM? Fantastic choices, as always from X2.

Also, loctesting has already started in New Jersey. That was fast.

I actually went to the loctest. The sync was horrible, probably because of the new widescreen or something, I don't know.

Note to self: Stop forgetting about this place.

I was actually really disappointed in both, the charts looks really incomplete and off sync. That's the one thing I was always had a problem with with ddr charts is they seem like there could be a lot more going on yet they dumb it down to a really boring chart.

K//'s version is a looot better (and I'm not just saying that because I'm posting on this site)  XD

90% of the charts konami makes are boring.

But my opinion is that of a SM keyboarder so I'm not sure much of it counts =O

Well a lot of the easier charts used to have very fun footwork, though would usually be pretty easy to play they were fun and the songs were good, like Spin The Disc. Easy easy chart, but fun as hell to play. A lot of the new charts just seem way to lacking though, Koonami seems to hold back too much with non boss songs and go all out on boss songs.

That has to be the only reason why I liked ITG charts was that they all had oni charts (though yeah a lot were crap it still had that one tougher chart which if stepped right could be fun.) Gold Rush seems way way way to easy and under stepped, at least charts like Fire Fire look really fun, and not like zomg tough fun just looks fun to no bar fun. They seem to be heading in the right direction but I'm still kinda disappointed to see Gold Rush get such a weak chart.

(hope some of it makes sense, idk I haven't played ddr in ages)

I bet Santotsuga can pass it, but what a stupid chart :sawesome:

Still hate how DDR handles the end of BPM freezes (dedicating a note to it, so that you start stepping on the second note after the music restarts), they need to fix that.
