Yeah, it's not really a college class until it's not intro-level. Otherwise you're pretty much taking APs. (For what it's worth, this is the kind of class I'm comparing to when I say grad school is about 1.5x as hard.)

Well, unfortunately, I don't have too many tips to offer on test preparation; being me I put it off until the night before, cram until about 3-4 hours before I have to get up, sleep, and compensate for the lack of sleep with an energy drink. Or maybe that's secretly a good tactic, because it's gotten me pretty far in life?

Regarding learning stuff in general (which I feel is more key than test preparation itself), don't write down everything on the board. If you can derive something easily or it follows directly and logically from something else, you don't need to write it. If it's something really obvious to you, you also don't need to write it. Write down the things that are harder or confusing.

Also, be the person who talks a lot in class. No, not to your friends, I mean like when the professor asks questions or lets people ask questions. Forces your mind to be there.

Thanks k//, I don't really really need test cramming help I was just asking general learning stuff tips. I'm just trying to pick it up because I'm trying to get into law school and so I need good GPA and learning how to learn more effectively is always a good thing. And besides this is a collection of fairly scholarly people.

I'll vouch for working out the problem if there's a case where professor gives an opportunity.  If you can get as many of those things out of the way when they're available, you will learn 1000x better.  Read before class so that you know what you don't need to take notes on.  Eat a good breakfast.  Don't take any afternoon classes.

You know what you doing :D

Oh right, something else I remembered.

If lecture slides exist and are available to you beforehand, a lot of people print them out and then scribble notes on them. DON'T DO THAT. Don't print them out, don't even look at them. It'll be harder to think on the spot if you've got a crutch, and you'll be lazier with taking notes if you've already got a set in front of you.

I don't have classes next semester, hurr.  I'm going to take a break between BS and MS, not sure how long, but long enough so that a job I would have will allow me to buy a car and live comfortably in my own house.  If I get the job I'm pleasantly waiting for after I graduate, I'd be making enough to accomplish this in 3-4 years tops.

Just remember, tech jobs want degree, but there's "entry-level" for a reason.  Projects are usually useful for getting jobs.  Weirdly, companies want experience XD

Progression:

App Dev:
[Entry-Level Programmer -> Jr. Programmer -> Programmer I -> Programmer II -> Sr. Programmer] -> [30-40k, 40-50k, 50-75k, 55-80k, 65-100k]

IT:
[Helpdesk -> IT Support Tech -> ??? -> CCNA] -> [25-40k, 35-50k, ???, PROFIT]

Plan realistically :)

It's worth making sure whatever job you get is related to the field you want to study in if you plan to go back to school, otherwise that can be a mildly damaging move.

Advanced Calculus: A
Differential Equations: A
Biblical Interpretation: A (Prof says nobody has ever gotten 100% on the final paper, I got a 99%, I was mad, lols)
Asian Cinema: A
Fundamental Concepts of Geometry: B-

Got that B- because I honestly did not care about the class one bit.  The teacher is stupid and couldn't even solve some of the basic problems on the board.  I didn't even study at all, did maybe half the homework because I thought it was a waste of my time and I had better things to do.  Seriously, one of the assignments was to make that geometric shape thing, and although it's pretty cool, it really was not necessary and wasted like 6 hours of time lol.  Really, the lower grades I got were because I thought the class was too easy (except modern algebra, I can't stand that junk), or the teacher was a douche and gave me lower grades when I obviously did not deserve them (How do you go from 99.6% in a class to under 83% when the final exam is 15% course grade?  Never liked that guy anyway and it's not worth the hassle to appeal the grades since it wouldn't put me at the 3.90+ Summa Cum Laude honors).

Whatever, 3.73 GPA, Graduating on Saturday with Alpha Chi honors, Kappa Mu Epsilon Mathematics honors, and Magna Cum Laude 3.70+ GPA honors.  Yay.

99% sure I'm not going to Canada after all, too many things would happen that I didn't want to happen, my student account would be placed on hold, making my degree postponed until december because the account isn't full paid off, and it would cost me more money than I have, and more than my parents can afford to help with, so that seems to be out of the question.

Job hunting time.

Modern Algebra ?= Abstract Algebra

Anyways, the one class I had this semester (Computer Operating Systems), I had a 81% before the exam, and exam only counted for 20% of grade.  Somehow, I got a 220% on the exam, because I got an A in the class :awesome:

Yeah, modern algebra = abstract algebra at our university.
