P3's S-Links (or several of them) are retarded and I hate dealing with them. Build a few to max (depending on which you like to use) and mostly ignore the rest (building them up just enough to create the higher levels of the ones you like), I say.

Early on, even if you get tired, try to keep battling until you're going to die before you get out of there. You can get easy Courage boosts from the nurse by drinking the potion, and get your status back by saving before you use the bathroom.

I'd work on maxing a few S-Links as higher priority than simple grinding, but leveling everyone up is still important.

Thanks k//, I wanted to know because what I'm seeing is that the game is intrinsically going against my usual play style. If left unchecked I'll just use Orpheus the whole game. But I guess I'll just have to adapt, btw can you change the personas on your team?

The other party members' Personas upgrade automatically at certain points in the story.

In Persona 4, they upgrade when you max their S-Links.

So k// do you have any suggestions on what Personality traits (charm, courage, academics) or S-Links to pay special attention too?

Personality traits will max out much faster than you think they will. Courage and Academics should be maxed together and kinda early (you can get Tired from studying at night, which allows you to get the Courage boost at the nurse's office). If you manage to hit Great status, go to the shrine for a higher Academics boost.

Acing exams gets you a few nifty items and is required for one S-Link.

It'll look like they're going up really slowly, but you'll probably max everything out long before the game ends.

As for which S-Links to max, just look at what types of Personas you're using a lot and go with those. It's a matter of playing style and who you want in your party.

Thanks k//, my problem with the S-links is that I don't usually specialize. I'll straight use Orpheus the whole game and just acquire other ones but never use them.

I like how you are playing new games while I continue to rediscover old games.  I'm replaying SaGa Frontier for the nth time now and this time I'm trying to build a sweet Asellus-exclusive team.  Hardest part will probably be absorbing 2 Suzaku's and 1 Genbu to the Mystic Sword / Glove / Boots.

NO, don't stick with Orpheus, that's a horrid idea. You've seen how Orpheus is leveling way slower than the other characters' Personas, right? You're supposed to fuse new ones along the way.

I guess in theory an Orpheus run is possible, but that's making it way harder than it has to be.

Well that's why I ask people for ideas, I tend to stick with the main characters initial. On your advice I will go out and try to utilize other personas. What I was saying was if left unattended or told that Orpheus is no good I'll use him and just be like "this game is retardedly hard". Just gotta find someone to specialize with now. I heard Lucifer/Devil combo was really good.

Well, that's for near the end of the game. Just go with whatever's high level in your favorite S-Links.

I'm partial to magic-heavy types, but if you don't want to think, try the brute force flavor like Strength. You might want to get Hermit up since debuffs are SUPER USEFUL in this game.

Mmmmmm sweet delicious magicky death...I love magic users far more than brute strength. Which is good because my Arcana S-link is high so far.

I like how you are playing new games while I continue to rediscover old games.

Well it's fitting since many of the games that I've come to love recently have all been recommendations from you, (except MGS3 I have always been a snake fan). My next buy is gonna be Disgaea 2, if I can find it.

EDIT: Alright, tired of following the max s-link faq, gonna use it to get to the high levels in what I want (justice, magician, death) then next run through when I don't have to fiddle about with my attributes and I have my most powerful personas I can max my links and get the ultra personas.

TRIPLE POST!!!

I just found an AMAZING (in my opinion) app for the psp. It's called Bookr it reads pdf files, what makes this so OMG awesome for me is that now I can take ebooks with me places. I can read all the time and Bookr has a smooth, intuitive interface.

I COMMAND THEE THREAD RISE ONCE MORE!

I am resurrecting this thread to ask people's opinions on a good cheap or free antivirus/antispyware. I run Malwarebytes so actual removal isn't the issue it's more real time protection. I could go with CA Security Suite cause I can get it for free but it eats up resources and there is a CA folder in my C: drive that's like 20 GB and I can't do anything with it, so I'm slightly concerned about that. I'm getting a new computer soon so it will have Windows 7 on there.

Avast. It's sometimes overparanoid, which can be a little annoying, but at the end of the day it's better to have it try too hard than too little, I think.

I'll second Avast and suggest that you remove Norton. That program is so annoying. X(

Avast protects also from rootkits almost all the time, and often times destroys spyware, but it also tells spybot to get lost.  Also, I tell it not to do all of the scans that it does, because it can get process intensive.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input.

I'm getting a new computer so I want to try and preserve it's power and the stuff I currently run bogs down my computer unless I disable certain actions. I do because it's a risk I'm willing to take but yeah I'd rather not have to.

Dragon Age or Oblivion. I like Elder Scrolls 3 and I love Bioware, I will be buying the PC version of one of these. Any opinions about either game would be appreciated.

I didn't like Dragon Age but a lot of people do.  I made my character, walked 500 feet in-game, and suddenly out of nowhere a poison trap goes off and two skeletons come out of hiding.  No antidote for poison so consequently, that and the fact that my ally didn't actually do anything to fight, the two skeletons killed me and my ally.

After this I promptly exited the game and *sings* uninstaaaaaaaaaaall.

I loved TES3:Morrowind and used to make mods for it with the editor (a pain to learn but kind of fun after), but I didn't get as much into Oblivion partly because I thought it felt a lot like Morrowind with tweaks.  I did play it for 10+ hours though and liked what I saw and played of it.  It's just so big that you sometimes get lost in the ability to go wherever and do whatever.  Sometimes it feels more like a sandbox than a game, but some people like it that way.

I played the hell out of Oblivion. I stopped for a while because I wanted to go through other games, but I still have it installed. I like it personally, it does get frustrating at times, but a little challenge is always good. Plus the price, I picked up mine for $20 and it includes the 2 expansions(Shivering Isles is amazing, it's like a different game entirely, keeps it fresh). Dragon Age... $50 not including the new $40 expansion.

Any reason there's no mention of Mass Effect there? Pretty solid game, or at least the main quest is.

Copy Protection Mostly, I have no problem with a disk check but I hate the SecuRom crap that installs and never uninstalls regardless of what you do with the game. I actually really looked forward to Mass Effect and Bioshock but this is a brand new computer and it's all purpose so I can't bog it down with heavy copy protection software. Although it's a possibility if the copy protection is either toned down or removable.

@nekos- yeah that's a good point, I'm cheap as it is so that is a strong point and like I said the Elder Scrolls series is very very good.

Well, it's certainly been cracked, although I don't know the details about the PC version, I'm playing it on my huegbox (which I picked up recently for a grand total of $70 shipped).

People have been pirating the PC version, though, so it's certain that the copy protection has been "broken" somehow.

Shocker right? I know that there is a crack it's just that I'd rather not have to buy something and then pirate it to make it run.

I'm only a couple hours into Disc 2, it's been kinda busy here lately.

Shocker right? I know that there is a crack it's just that I'd rather not have to buy something and then pirate it to make it run.

So when you say "removable" it has to be doable officially? If you ask me, after buying it, it's basically your right to do whatever with it.
